YouTuber Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán William McLoughlin, recently shared in a video titled 'A Bad Month' that he had been working on a Soma animated show for a year, only to have it fall apart, leaving him "quite upset." Soma, a critically acclaimed survival horror sci-fi game developed by Frictional Games and released in 2015, is a title Jacksepticeye has frequently streamed and cited as one of his top favorite games.

In the video, Jacksepticeye discussed the challenges he faced creatively after several projects were canceled or failed to progress. He revealed his involvement with the Soma animated show, expressing his passion for the game and his disappointment at its abrupt cancellation. "I had a very large creative project that I was very excited to do... I was planning to do a Soma animated show," he said. He had been in discussions with the developers for a year and was ready to move into full production when an unnamed party decided to take the project in a different direction, leading to its collapse.
Jacksepticeye did not delve into specifics about what happened, as he was too upset to discuss it further. The cancellation has significantly disrupted his plans for 2025, leaving him uncertain about his priorities and what to focus on next. "So all of my plans for the year are flipped upside down. Now what is the priority? What am I doing? I don’t know," he lamented, expressing frustration over the wasted time and effort.
Following Soma, Frictional Games released two more Amnesia titles: Amnesia: Rebirth in 2020 and Amnesia: The Bunker in 2023. In July 2023, Frictional's creative director Thomas Grip mentioned the company's intention to shift focus from horror to explore other emotional qualities in their games. "While all of our games have been horror in some way, what we really try to do is to get a kind of playable immersion," Grip explained, emphasizing the company's interest in creating immersive experiences beyond just horror.
