About Mudras:

The term Mudra, derived from Sanskrit, signifies a pose or gesture. The components 'mud' meaning joy and 'ra' meaning produce, suggest that Mudras generate happiness and vitality. Rooted in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, Mudras are not only used in spiritual practices but also in classical dances like Bharatanatyam and Mohiniattam, with 200 and 250 Mudras respectively, and 108 in Tantric rituals. These gestures serve as a silent language of self-expression, involving specific hand and finger positions.

Mudras work by creating a closed electrical circuit in the body, facilitating the flow of energy. Each finger corresponds to one of the five elements: the Thumb to Fire, Index to Air, Middle to Sky, Ring to Earth, and Little finger to Water. An imbalance in these elements can disrupt the immune system and lead to disease. By touching a finger to the thumb, the imbalance is corrected, aiding in disease recovery.

A daily practice of Mudras can range from 5 to 45 minutes, requiring proper pressure, touch, sitting position, and breathing technique. However, the efficacy of Mudras is also influenced by one's diet, eating habits, and overall lifestyle.

Specialty of Mudras:

• Mudras are widely incorporated in Yoga, meditation, and dance, requiring no special equipment or abilities, just patience.

• Suitable for individuals aged 5 to 90, making it a versatile practice for all.

• Regular practice of Mudras is recommended for maintaining physical, mental, and spiritual health.

• They are effective in stress relief, promoting calmness, mindfulness, and inner peace.
