Today marks the 10th anniversary of *Bloodborne*, and fans are commemorating the occasion by launching yet another "Return to Yharnam" community event. Released on March 24, 2015, by FromSoftware for the PlayStation 4, *Bloodborne* not only solidified the developer's status as a leading force in gaming but also garnered widespread critical and commercial success. Given its impact, many expected a sequel or at least a current-gen remaster, yet Sony has remained silent on any follow-up plans, leaving fans puzzled and eager for more.
Earlier this year, Shuhei Yoshida, a PlayStation legend who left Sony, provided some insight into the absence of *Bloodborne* updates. In an interview with Kinda Funny Games, Yoshida shared his personal theory, emphasizing that it was not based on insider knowledge. He speculated that Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of FromSoftware and the creator of *Bloodborne*, might be reluctant to let anyone else work on the game due to his deep attachment to it. Yoshida suggested that Miyazaki's busy schedule and success with projects like *Elden Ring* could be factors in the lack of progress on *Bloodborne*.Miyazaki's career post-Bloodborne has indeed been prolific. Following Bloodborne, he directed Dark Souls 3, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and the critically acclaimed Elden Ring. Despite often deflecting questions about Bloodborne in interviews, Miyazaki did acknowledge last year that the game could benefit from being released on more modern hardware.
In the absence of official updates, fans and modders have stepped in to enhance the Bloodborne experience. However, Sony has not been receptive to these efforts. For instance, modder Lance McDonald received a DMCA takedown notice from Sony Interactive Entertainment for his 60fps mod, and Lilith Walther faced copyright claims over her Bloodborne demake projects. Meanwhile, a recent breakthrough in PS4 emulation has allowed fans to play Bloodborne at 60fps on PC, but this too has prompted no response from Sony.
As fans continue to wait for official news, they've organized community events like the "Return to Yharnam" to keep the spirit of Bloodborne alive. Today's event encourages players to create new characters, summon as many cooperators and invaders as possible, and leave in-game messages to signify their participation in this community celebration.

With no official word on a sequel or remaster, these community-driven efforts may be the only way Bloodborne fans can continue to engage with the beloved game.
